How to connect Lyngo to your phone line
Setup Lyngo with your exsiting phone number
Overview
To let Lyngo take care of your incoming calls, simply forward your current (public-facing) phone number to the new local number we provide. If you'd like callers to have the option to chat with a real person, you'll need an extra "transfer back" number.
Typically, a VOIP connection is necessary to establish complex call flows, so please consult your phone provider if you are uncertain.
Feel free to use these instructions for yourself or pass them along to your service provider to implement.
Step 1: Gather the Required Numbers
- Your Public-Facing Number: The one you currently advertise or use for your practice.
- Your Lyngo Number: The dedicated local number Lyngo gives you upon sign-up.
- (Optional) Secondary (Transfer Back) Number: If you want callers to speak to a human, arrange with your provider for a second line (sometimes called a ghost or backend number).
Step 2: Forward Your Calls to Lyngo
- Access Call Forwarding Settings: Log in to your phone system / portal or ask your provider to do this for you.
- Set the Destination: Forward inbound calls from your public-facing number to your Lyngo number.
- Choose Forwarding Logic (if desired):
- Immediate: Every call routes to Lyngo as soon as it comes in.
- Conditional: Calls forward only if not answered in a certain number of rings.
- Time-Based / After-Hours: Calls forward to Lyngo only outside normal business hours.

Google: "Setup call forwarding with YOUR PHONE PROVIDERS NAME"
(Optional) Step 3: Configure a “Transfer Back” Line
If you’d like callers to speak to a human:
- Obtain a Secondary Line: Contact your telecom or VoIP provider for an additional number (the ghost or backend number). When this number is used, it will ring your phone directly and will be set to skip the default call forwarding logic.
- Specify the Transfer Line in Lyngo: In your Lyngo account settings, set this secondary line as the “transfer to human” destination.
- Prevent Loops: Use any number different to your public-facing line —otherwise, you risk sending the call back to Lyngo repeatedly.
Ghost/Backend Number Explained
With this handy separate line, your main public number can easily send calls straight to Lyngo, while still letting Lyngo pass them back to you. Since the ghost number is different from your main line, it stops calls from bouncing back to Lyngo and creating a loop.
Alternatively you can redirect the call to a completely seperate phone
